Why Reynolds Wrap rocks for Veggie Packets?

Whether you are cooking at home or away, having some Reynolds Wrap® Heavy Duty Foil around is always clutch for grilling. Not everyone has the time and tools to grill up veggies, so that is why my parents taught me about these awesome steak with veggie packets.

We all know that some veggies take longer to cook than others. I love grilled potatoes, but they can be difficult as it is tough to gauge the timing of how long they need to cook. Plus, how do you know when to throw on the steaks so that they are both ready to eat at the same time? These steak with veggie packets are the key to solving that problem.

Throw in the potatoes, onions, carrots, bell peppers, and mushrooms right into the same packet so that they cook quickly and evenly. I lathered them in oil and season them prior to adding to the foil so that they have flavor throughout! The Reynolds Wrap® Heavy Duty Foil will act like an oven on the steak with veggies packets, plus it is perfect for grilling because of its strength and durability.  Not only will they bake quickly, but they will retain a lot of moisture. After only 15 minutes of cooking, you’ll have hot veggies ready to eat! Plus, the foil acts as its own serving dish for the steak and sauce. Now about that steak and sauce…

Let’s Talk About these Steaks and Horseradish Sauce!

The New York strip steak is a great candidate to pair with these steak with veggie packets. I grilled mine fat side down the first minute so that it renders and adds more flavor to the steak. Once done with searing the fat, I grill the steak for about 3 minutes per side until it reaches 120F internal. Let it rest for 10 minutes before I sliced into it because that will help redistribute the juices back into the meat.

Lastly, I mixed up that delicious horseradish sauce for the top of the meal. Then I added the sliced steak right over the top of the veggies along with some sauce for that perfect finish!

Steak:

  • 3-4 New York Strip Steaks
  • 1 tbsp of Sea Salt
  • 1 tbsp of Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp of Garlic Powder
  • Oil as needed

Veggie Packet:

  • ½ cup of Bell Peppers cubed
  • ½ cup of Carrots cubed
  • ½ cup of Onions cubed
  • ½ cup of Mushrooms cubed
  • 1 cup of Potatoes cubed
  • 1 tbsp of Sea Salt
  • 1 tbsp of Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp of Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp of Red Chili Flakes
  • Oil as needed

Horseradish Sauce

  • 2 tbsp of Sour Cream
  • 2 tbsp of Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp of Prepared Horseradish
  • 2 tsp of Hot Sauce

Gear:

  • Reynolds Wrap® Heavy Duty Foil

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix all the veggie packet ingredients thoroughly. Take two 1 foot long segments of Reynolds Wrap® Heavy Duty Foil, add the veggies, wrap and seal tightly. Set aside. Lather your steaks with oil and season thoroughly. Mix all ingredients for horseradish sauce and set it into the fridge until ready to use.
  • Preheat your grill to 400F for direct cooking. Set the foil wrapped veggies on the grill and cover to cook for 20-30 minutes. Make sure to turn & flip occasionally to cook evenly.
  • As veggie packets are halfway done cooking, sear the fat side of your steak on the grill for 1 minute. Flip over and cook for 3 minutes per side or until they reach 120F internal for medium-rare. When steak is done cooking, pull off, and let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Once veggies are done, pull off and let rest for 2-3 minutes to cool down. Slice steak, open up the veggie packet and top with sliced steak. Then cover with horseradish sauce and enjoy!
