We put a ton of thought into the design and actual cooking experience of this grill. So, I want you to have all the tips and tricks you need to use this beast of a machine to its full potential! In this article, we’ll go over everything you need to know to be a FYR Grill Pro!

Why You’ll Love the FYR Grill
I know, I know, scroll down if you’ve heard this story before, but I have to tell it so you have the full picture. My friend Pete Taylor (from Spiceology) and I developed the FYR Grill because we hadn’t found a grill that checked all the boxes for versatility, portability and durability. And trust me, we had cooked on pretty much every surface you could think of.

So, we decided to take matters into our own hands and design a grill that could do it all. It could be the centerpiece of your backyard, then fold down to the size of a cooler and go virtually anywhere. We’re talking camping, overlanding and RVing, tailgating, beaching — the list goes on. Thanks to input from dozens of pitmasters, chefs, and culinary adventurers with more than 325 years of combined industry experience, we got the grill of our dreams.

We also went bananas with the accessories so you can have every live-fire cooking experience you can think of. The FYR Grill has a modular design and comes with Santa Maria attachment to raise and lower the cast iron grates so you have the ultimate temperature control; a cordless rotisserie attachment for the perfect rotisserie chicken, loins, legs and more; and a specialized skewer system to lock in each rotation.

How to Use the FYR Grill
The Setup
Now that you’ve heard the backstory, here’s how to create some FYR-y magic in your life. We’ll start with the setup, which I go into more detail about in this post.

Just know that the FYR GRILL can be easily assembled in under a minute, no tools necessary. All you need is a buddy to help lift the base onto the legs, and you’ll be golden.
The Fuel
The next thing to becoming a FYR Grill Pro is fuel management! This grill doesn’t have those hard-to-handle trays that throw a wrench into your live-fire creator vibe. The easy-open front door simplifies the process of pushing the coals around, adding more fuel and cleaning up after cooking. We put in a dual ash pan reservoir, so you can easily clean out your ash pans in no time at all.
We also built in a patent-pending multi-cook zone system so you can manage your charcoal with precision — you can configure them eight different ways for top flexibility. Each divider panel locks into the base so you can adjust accordingly depending on your specific cook. And you can use lump hardwood charcoal (like my old standby Cowboy Charcoal), flavored briquettes or good ole fashioned real wood! Whatever cook you want, you’ll get.
The Accessories
Alright, now it’s time to COOK. The FYR Grill grates are seriously heavy duty. We’re talking 304 Stainless Steel, which is rust-resistant, long-lasting, and makes for easy cleanup. Then, there are the accessories. This is where the grill really shines, and I know you’ll put all of these to good use.

Our Santa Maria attachment allows you to easily raise and lower your grates, this was a key feature for us because it allows you ultimate temperature control. You can elevate it up to 22 inches above the flames for a perfect slow roast, or crank it down for that perfect golden crust on a seared steak. Our rechargeable cordless rotisserie is also pretty amazing and can fit two whole chickens, a 10-pound prime rib, a whole turkey or a whole leg of lamb. Seriously. And did I mention you can cook this on the go?
Finally, you’ve got the skewers. With this design, you can lock in each individual skewer to achieve 360-degree grilling perfection. No more food falling through the grates or uneven cooking.
OK, I lied. One last thing: the folding side trays! It’s always the worst when you don’t have enough room to land your proteins, spices, cutting boards or beers. These side trays give you plenty of room to work.
