How to Make Spicy Honey Garlic Shrimp

Add your shrimp to a large bowl along with some oil. Season large shrimp thoroughly with a mixture of salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika and chili flakes. Set in the fridge until ready to use.

Seasoning the raw shrimp so it's ready for it's first grill on the skillet.

Heat your fire to medium-high heat (about 350F).

Start by adding the skillet to the fire with some oil. Then let the shrimp cook for 1.5-2 minutes total. When the shrimp are done, pull off and set to the side.

Getting the raw shrimp on the skillet and then pulling them off so that we can make the hot honey garlic sauce.

Pro Tip

To avoid overcooking the shrimp, pull them from the grill while they are still slightly underdone. They’ll go back on the grill once we make the hot honey garlic sauce, and will finish cooking at that point.

Using the same skillet, add your minced garlic and let simmer for 2-3 minutes until browned. Next, deglaze with a squeeze of lime juice, soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. Let the sauce simmer for 2 more minutes, and finally add the rest of the hot honey garlic sauce ingredients.

Roasting the garlic and adding the other hot honey garlic sauce ingredients to simmer together over the fire.

Bring to a rolling simmer with bubbles appearing on the surface. Simmer for 2-3 more minutes until slightly thickened, then add the tender shrimp back and coat in the sauce. Mix the hot honey garlic shrimp around until they’re evenly coated in the sauce and have finished cooking.

Mixing the shrimp into the sauce.

Garnish the delicious shrimp with sesame seed and sliced scallions. Pull the skillet off and serve.

Enjoy!

Store any leftover shrimp in an airtight container to enjoy the next day.

  1. Do you have any seasoning that are low sodium. I have tried lots of your recipes, and could easily live on all of them , but have been limited to all things without salt. Extremely hard to make yummy food this way. Have any tips? Thanks

    1. Spiceology does have many salt free or low sodium options. Sadly I don’t have any of my seasonings with low salt.
